Parsons Brinckerhoff - San Diego County Water Authority

The San Vicente Pump Station Projects are a part of San Diego County Water Authorities Emergency Storage project. The Pump Station will be built to provide facilities for 3 horizontal centrifugal pumps, including 7000 HP motors, 2 variable frequency drives and transformers. The work being performed consists of the construction of a new pump station, surge control facility and inlet-outlet structures, installation of fabricated steel pipe and fittings, and related systems, gates and valves, and other appurtenances.

ON-SITE provided electrical and instrumentation inspection at the jobsite. ON-SITE’s CWI welding inspectors have provided welding inspection, supported weld procedure and welder qualifications for the pipe and structural steel. ON-SITE was also tasked with providing a start up manager to oversee the contractors start up procedures and schedule.

Parsons Engineering- Metropolitan Water District of Southern California

The Robert A. Skinner Filtration Plant Expansion Project is one of five filtration plants of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which supplies over 520 million gallons of treated water for 2.5 million people. The project consists of the construction of new Wash water Reclamation Plant and improvements to Wash water Reclamation Plant No. 2. The work being performed consist of the construction of new buildings and water treatment structures, wash water reclamation plant, chemical and liquid oxygen plant facilities, cooling water pump station, power sub station and switch gear, yard conduits and piping; modifying plant utilities; connections to existing facilities; testing and commissioning; installation of fabricated steel pipe and fittings, liquid oxygen tanks and vaporizers, ozone generators and related systems, gates, valves, and all other appurtenances.

ON-SITE provided site electrical and instrument inspection including submittal review, vendor contact and coordination, working with the contractor and the engineer to resolve field problems and supported start up activities. ON-SITE’s fabrication inspectors provided shop fabrication inspection services of the mechanical and electrical equipment and large diameter steel pipe and fittings, and valves associated with this project.

Berg Construction Management

Alameda Corridor Anaheim Street Pump Station Project was constructed to provide and improve drainage in the area for flood control. Storm water from the newly constructed pump station will be discharged into the Dominguez Channel through an outfall structure.

ON-SITE provided construction inspection services, and field technical support during the construction and start up of the pump station. In addition ON-SITE’s engineers and inspectors supported the fabrication and testing of the pumps which were fabricated in Mexico.

R.W. Beck - San Diego County Water Authority

The Lake Hodges Pipeline and Hydro Electric Pump Station is a part of San Diego County Water Authorities Emergency Storage project. Hydraulic turbines will provide the additional benefit of capturing energy created when water flows from the Olivenhain Reservoir into Lake Hodges. The pump station will generate 40 Megawatt capacity by utilizing 2 each 20 MW (15300 HP) vertical generators. This very important project will increase the amount of water available within the county for use during emergencies. The work being performed consists of the construction of a new pump station and inlet-outlet structures, installation of 5,800 ft of 121-inch diameter fabricated steel pipe and fittings, and related systems, gates and valves, and other appurtenances.

ON-SITE provided site welding and electrical inspection support during the construction phase. ON-SITE inspectors provided shop fabrication inspection services of Turbines, Generators, switch gear, Units Controls, valves, large diameter pipe and other mechanical equipment associated with this project. These fabricators were located in China, Brazil, Canada, Europe and the USA.

Kiewit Pacific - LADWP Lower Owens River Pump Station

The Lower Owens River Project (LORP), a cooperative effort of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the County of Inyo, will provide a steady flow of water to 62 miles of the Owens River below the Los Angeles Aqueduct Intake where the river has been essentially dry since the Aqueduct opened in 1913.

In addition to the fabrication inspection services provided, ON-SITE supported the project team with electrical and mechanical start up support to efficiently resolve start up issues during the commissioning of the pump station.
